Hello and a warm welcome to RJG Therapy! We all have times in our lives when things are difficult or life doesn’t go quite according to plan. Talking to someone who is not emotionally connected to you can be helpful when feeling painful emotions, facing difficult decisions or in helping you to understand or explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and of others.

You may be feeling quite unsure and confused at the moment and finding the right therapist might feel like a daunting prospect. With many therapists to choose from, it is important you find someone you will feel comfortable in sharing your journey with. To help you make a decision, I will give you some information about myself to help you make an informed choice. My name is Rhonda Georgeson and I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist for adults and children. ‘I am also a clinical supervisor, a Licensed Practitioner of Understanding Your Eating Programme and an EFT Accredited Practitioner.

What is counselling

Therapy provides a supportive, non judgemental and confidential space for you to talk to a trained professional about your difficulties and concerns, allowing you an opportunity to explore your experiences, thoughts and behaviours and build on your inner strength and resilience. The process of counselling is dynamic and is found to be effective in reducing psychological distress and enable positive sustained change. Person Centred counselling works at relational depth from the principle that each person is distinct with an innate tendency and capacity to fulfil their best potential. The core conditions of acceptance, genuineness and empathy are offered to each client which helps build a trusting relationship.

To enable effective counselling to take place, it is important to consider the logistics of an appropriate setting, confidentiality, time, consistency and flexibility as well as working at the client’s pace and within their agenda.

How I work

I would describe my practice as integrative although my original person centred training underpins my therapy work. Integrative therapy is a talking therapy that is fluid with different techniques to support each individuals needs.
